Prime Minister Najib Razak officially opened the new Light Rail Transit (LRT) Kelana Jaya Line extension project (LEP), on 30 June 2016, bringing the LRT into the suburbs of Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Puchong and offering convenient access from these towns to Kuala Lumpur. This extension adds 17 km and 12 stations, all elevated, to the existing line.
RapidKL, a subsidiary of Prasarana, is the Operator of the extension being undertaken under the ‘Prasarana campaign of Bringing Transport Convenience Closer to the People’ programme.

On 27 May Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn. Bhd., owner and developer of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) project, awarded contracts to the Bombardier Transportation-Glibal Rail Sdn Bhd. Consortium to supply the rail control and signalling system and platform screen doors for KVMRT Line 2. Under the 433 million Malaysian ringgit (95 million EUR) contract, Bombardier will provide the 52 km line and its 58 vehicles with the CITYFLO 650 CBTC signalling equipment, while Global Rail will be responsible for the installation of Platform Screen Doors.
