Annual World Report 2012

The World Annual Report is produced by the Observatory of Automated Metros. The 2012 edition, presented in this section, confirms that unattended train automation has become a widespread and accepted solution:

• 25 cities have opted for automated metros in all 4 continents
• metro automation can look back to 30 years of experience
• the exponential growth rate leads the Observatory of Automated Metros to predict a fivefold increase in the number of kilometers of automated lines by 2025.

This report looks at developments of 2011 (a historic year in terms of achievements & growth), at the past and to the future of metro automation worldwide. It is based on information obtained from the industry press and/or directly from the operators and authorities who manage the automated lines.
