Metroselskabet A/S, the operating authority of the Copenhagen metro, has announced that the city’s new Metro line M3 started its trial run on 24 June, under the responsibility of the operator, Metro Service.
After ten weeks of testing, the trial run will move into the final stage on 13 September 2019, when the M3 will carry out full operation, albeit without passengers for two weeks. The opening of M3 is scheduled for 29 September.
The Copenhagen Metro already operates two automated metro lines and will add the first stage of a fourth line early 2020. At that time, the metro system will cover 39.5 km and serve 39 stations. It is expected that it will carry more than 120 million passengers each year. Construction of a further extension of M4 with 5 additional stations has already started.
