Turkish muncipality of Kocaeli to build FAO line

The first FAO line in Turkey, Istanbul’s M5, opened on 15 December 2017

On 1 February the Municipality of Kocaeli, Turkey, announced a call for tenders for building a fully automated metro line between Gebze and Darıca, located approximately 50 km away from Istambul.

The planned driverless metro will have 12 stations and be 15.6 km long. Trains will run at 90-second intervals.

Construction is planned to start during the first half of the year and the line is to be completed in 1,560 days, the Municipality announced.

The first fully automated metro line in Turkey, Istanbul’s M5, opened on 15 December 2017.
